We got a chance to catch up with The Darlins... and really wanted to share with everyone how awesome these lovely ladies really are and a little about their story! So we interviewed them, and hope you enjoy the interview.
CC: How would you describe your music?
The Darlins: "We are country with a bit of a rockin’ edge. One publication said if “Dolly Parton met her rock and roll soul sister and started a duo, it would sound like The Darlins”. We write everything we play as well, so everything we are singing about, we have lived it."
CC: Tell us about how and when you formed your band?
The Darlins: "Several years ago, we met while working at a Sephora in Nashville while pursuing individual careers in music. A year or so later after we became good friends, we decided to write together and play songwriter’s nights around town for fun. After the first couple of shows, people started coming to see us and asking us to perform more. Those fans are still very close to us today."
CC: What is your biggest challenge working in the music industry?
Erinn: "I think getting your music heard by the right people can definitely be a challenge. That’s why I love social media and releasing music yourself. That is what we have done and it is amazing how we’ve built such a strong fanbase with very little radio."
Jude: "I think getting a song cut is probably the hardest thing in the industry. I personally love pretty much every aspect of this business, so it's only as difficult as you want it to be."
CC: How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
Erinn: "Mistakes happen. I try to just roll with it. Most of the time, if you don’t draw attention to it, no one even realizes what happened."
Jude: "I really hate it when that happens, but you just make the best of it and move forward. I've seen the best and most accomplished musicians make mistakes and if you don't make a big deal of it, no one usually even notices it."
CC: Who are your favorite musicians? Groups?
Erinn: "I absolutely love Alison Krauss and Union Station. I’m also a huge fan of Little Big Town and Eric Church."
Jude: "I love Eric Church, Chris Janson, Little Big Town and of course, DOLLY!!!"
CC: What are your biggest accomplishments to date?
Erinn: "For me, releasing our EP, “Crush” and winning the national battle of the bands contest, The 2nd Hourly Gig sponsored by Snagajob. Winning that opportunity to open for Montgomery Gentry was one of the biggest things to happen."
Jude: "I would have to agree with Erinn, and I would add working with PLA Media and our song plugger Shane Barrett has been incredible. Very exciting things happening."
CC: What do you have planned for 2016?
The Darlins: "We are definitely writing and recording more music and working on releasing our video for our single “Crush”. Performing more shows it top priority as well."
CC: How do you like the Capturing Couture Guitar Straps?
The Darlins: "We love the Capturing Couture Guitar Straps so much! They are stunning and we always get tons of compliments. They are also very comfortable."
CC: How would you describe the Capturing Couture Scarf Guitar Straps?
The Darlins: "We have not seen the Capturing Couture Scarf Guitar Strap in person! We would love to try them. They look stylish and beautiful in the pictures."
CC: What advice can you give musicians starting out?
Erinn: "Be you. Be true to yourself and your craft. It’s a crazy business, but truthfully every business is. If you love it, don’t ever stop!"
Jude: "Learn everything you can about your craft, practice and get very accomplished with your instrument and talent. Stay true to yourself and always be open to constructive feedback and work harder than you've ever worked!! NEVER GIVE UP!!!!"
