Abigail Wate

Hi! First of all, I would love to thank you for taking time to check out my bio on the Capturing Couture website.  I am a singer/songwriter based out of Nashville, Tennessee.  When I was 11, I started writing songs back in my Illinois hometown. Everyone thought I was going to be an author based on the amount of reading I did, but I knew I lacked the attention span to write a 300 page novel. So I picked up the guitar, put some chords to a poem, and well, the rest is history.

When I was 13, I read the book If I Stay by Gayle Forman. I absolutely loved writing songs about books, and If I Stay was no exception. On the floor of my bedroom around 2am, I wrote the song, “If I Stay.” Flash forward three years later, and the novel was adapted into a major motion picture where my song was released by WaterTower Music and Warner Brothers as a promotional single.  Talk about a dream come true!!!

Now I live in Nashville, TN where I’m songwriting every single day with amazing writers. I am so thankful for all the memories and friendships I've been able make in Music City.  I get most of my songwriting inspiration from my own life. I try to write what I know. And at this point, I know about trucks, and Sonic and teenage love, and back-roads. I also know now that all the "cliche" country song terms aren't that big of a cliche when you actually live in the south;)
