Okay peeps... so you know that we love to support local artists... and Mary Desmond is no exception! This young talented singer has been quit busy lately... including busy on American Idol! WHAT?! So we caught up with Mary for a sneak peak into what it was like on American Idol for her and did a little interview for you to get to know her!
CC: How would you describe your music?
MD: "My music under the genre of pop, but it is a singer-songwriter pop. It has a little soul and a little Jazz in it too!"
CC: You were recently on American Idol…. Can you briefly describe your experience on American Idol?
MD: "Being on American Idol was an amazing experience. It was so crazy that I got to perform for such big legends in the music business like Jennifer Lopez, Harry Conic Junior, and Keith Urban. Every contestant that I met was so supportive and nice, not to mention talented! It was so much fun to be apart of the very last season of American Idol, and it has provided a great platform to further my music career."
CC: How do you handle mistakes during a performance?
MD: "Honestly, if I mess up during a performance, I try to make it seem like I didn't mess up. If a performer makes a weird face or something like that then the audience will know that they messed up. If they keep on going, most audience members wouldn't even notice the mistake. Also, I like to laugh at my mistakes, learn from them, and try to do better next time!" [smiles]
CC: How do you balance your music with school?
MD: "I try my best to balance my music career with my school work. My school is very supportive and whenever I travel to record music or perform, I go on independent study. My teachers are so wonderful and they help me understand anything that I miss."
CC: Do you get nervous before a performance or a competition?
MD: "I actually always get nervous before performing whether it's in front of one person or a lot of people. I think that it is healthy to get a little nervous because then you will have energy to pour out on stage."
CC: Who are your favorite musicians? Groups?
MD: I am a big fan of John Mayer because his music has so much variety and John can pull off any style. I also love Taylor Swift because of the stories that she tells in her songs. Lastly, I love Justin Bieber because not only is he so cute, he also is so talented."
CC: What are your biggest accomplishments to date?
MD:"Some of my big accomplishments include having over 10 million hits on my YouTube channel. Also I have built up a big fan base of 62k on Twitter and 29k on Periscope. Being a Hollywood week contestant of American Idol Season 15 is also one of my big accomplishments."
CC: What do you have planned for 2016?
MD: "I'm actually working on a big project which is a documentary that raises awareness about bullying. Throughout the documentary, I interview people who have been bullied and how they got through their lowest of lows. I'm trying to spread a message to people all around that it is their responsibility to say hello to someone who is lonely or be nice to someone who is sad. The documentary is called "Someone 2 Save Me" and it will be coming out later this year. I am also working on an EP that is being released this Summer!"
CC: How would you describe the Capturing Couture Scarf Guitar Straps?
MD: "The Capturing Couture Scarf Guitar Straps are so awesome! They are not only super cute, but very comfortable and they come in so many great styles. I love them!"
