Sophia Dion

Sophia Dion was a budding star before she reached her teen years and she possesses a musical presence that defies her age. Just 14 years old, Sophia is already a true rising star. Uniting folk, country and pop influences, Sophia's singer /songwriter musical style has been influenced by KT Tunstall, Jason Mraz, Ingrid Michaelson, Colbie Caillat, and Sara Bareilles.
While she has been fine-tuning her vocal and picking skills, she also has had some amazing opportunities playing in a variety of venues in Utah, Tennessee, and California.
In Utah where Sophia lives she has played the Sundance Film Festival for the past 3 years in the Fender Lounge and for The Koffeehouse emerging Indie Artist Series. She has also played for the Kimball Arts Festival, Deer Valley Concert Series, and Mountain Town Music venues.
As part of her 6th grade community service project 2012, Sophia chose to give back by raising funds for children’s musical instruments thru a non-profit called "Blue Star Connection." Blue Star noticed her musical talents and asked her to play for their benefit concert in Nashville along with blues legends Jimmy Hall, Tracy Nelson and Resse Wynans, as-well-as five time Grammy Award winner, Ashley Cleveland.
While in Nashville, Sophia was discovered by the owner of Bedell Guitars, who immediately signed her to a prestigious Performing Artist Deal. She has already played at the 2012 Summer NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) show in Nashville. She was asked to perform for “A Celebration of Music” to benefit “Little Kids Rock” a non-profit providing music instruction for public school students left behind due to budget cuts. Sophia was the youngest artist of the evening, amid performers including John Oates, Gary Morris, Drake White, and more of Nashville’s finest.
After winning 1st place in the Madd Talent Artist Contest held at the Nashville Hard Rock Cafe, her prize was a music video. She produced her first song " I just wanna sing", which is now available on iTunes.
NAMM invited Sophia to perform at their convention in Anaheim, California in January 2013. She opened for
"Tower of Power" on the Main Stage, and also played on the Acoustic Patio Stage.
While her musical soul is rooted in the guitar, Sophia's musical repertoire includes stand-up bass, piano and ukulele. She is currently writing and co-writing new material and looking forward to get back in the recording studio.
Sophia was recently named one of Utah's six prodigies.
Sophia has been fortunate to add other sponsors who are helping her developed her musical skills.
These include: Harman, Digitech, AKG, Vocalist, and Pukanla Ukulele’s.

“Sophia has a freshness that is rare in music today. Her sound is something long missing from the music scene-she is joyful. A remarkable talent with clear pure vocals accompanying herself on the guitar, you can expect to be wowed. Thirteen never sounded so good!"
 – Teri Orr, Executive Director of Park City Performing Arts Foundation and TEDX Organizer
“Sophia Dion is a rising star in the Park City music scene. Her voice resonates with a soul beyond her years and her presence on stage demands your attention. An amazing songwriter, Dion is a truly talented artist whose best days are ahead of her."
– Brian Richards, Executive Director Mountain Town Music
“Sophia’s voice captures the essence of a young Colbie Caillat coupled with a splash of maturity like KT Tunstall. We are proud to have this powerful ‘green-messenger’ to carry the song, “Talk About Saving the World” to the youth of our world.”
